Olive wood crucifix with two-tiered base hand-carved from Israel's finest olive trees in Bethlehem. Carved in a workshop near the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Olive trees have been native to the Holy Land since biblical times. The Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed before his crucifixion, was filled with ancient olive trees.
Olive trees are referenced in the Bible as symbols of peace, prosperity, and divine blessing. In Genesis 8:11, a dove returns to Noah with an olive leaf, signifying the restoration of hope after the flood. Additionally, passages such as Romans 11:17-24 use the olive tree as a metaphor for God's covenant with His people.
This piece is a testament of support for Israel and preservation of Christian practice in the Holy Land.
